We reccomend to come to Ghent with public transportation. The nearest railway station, Gent Dampoort, is only a 10 min walk. Once you are here you can easily explore the city by foot, or like a real Ghentian by bike. If you like to visit the outskirts of Ghent taxi’s are only a 2 min. walk or you can use a bus or tram.
PAYING CAR PARKS
You can easily park underground in 'Parking Vrijdagsmarkt' or ‘Parking Reep’. You follow the parking route (P-route). As soon as you enter the city, the P-route will direct you to the car park of your choice by means of electronic signs.
STREET PARKING
Parking prices and a limited time for parking depends on the zone you are situated in. The streets in our neighborhood are in the red, and pricy zone. Yet, you'll still be able to quickly (un)load your car with free ultra-short-term parking (20min).
PARK YOUR CAR FOR FREE
You can park your car free of charge at the edge of the city. To the north of the city, close to the R4 ring road are the P+R facilities of Lübeck. You can find 44 free parking spots. Adres: Lübeckstraat, 9000 Gent (via Afrikalaan)
Bus nr 6 takes you from the P+R facilities of Lubeck to the city centre, you need to get off the bus at the stop ‘Bij Sint-Jacobs’.
LOW EMISSION GHENT
Since 2020, the centre of Ghent is a Low Emission Zone, which means that older cars with high emissions cannot enter the city centre to improve air quality in the city. If you want to check whether you can enter the city with your car or look at a map for the location of the zone, you can visit: https://stad.gent/en/mobility-ghent/low-emission-zone-ghent-2020. Edgar Guesthouse is situated in the LEZ-zone, but only 10min walk if your car is not allowed.
