A thorough renovation was needed to turn the house into a cozy six-room guesthouse. The perfect job for Steven, the owner of design label ykoon design. The rooms exude young, contemporary luxury thanks to a combination of warm soothing colors, high-quality natural materials, and a cool collection of illustration art on the wall.
Steven designed all the beds, tables, and wall shelves himself and also gave other designers such as Jean Prouvé and Muller van Severen a place to stay. All the furniture falls under the label ykoon design.
In addition to the aesthetic and comfort, great importance was attached to the sustainability of the renovation. Thanks to the use of heat pumps, solar panels, and a rainwater cistern, we try to run our guesthouse in a future-oriented way.
Eline & Steven
Edgar Guesthouse is the second chapter in the hospitality story of cheese master Eline Goossens and architect/designer Steven Gosseye. The creative and complementary couple lost their hearts to the eclectic and authentic neighborhood around St. Jacobs Church in Ghent and opened 'Edgar cheese bar' there four years ago.
Eline extends her personal approach from the cheese bar to the hotel. Guests can expect a warm welcome and lots of insider tips for a fun stay in the Artevelde city.
